N
Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease, or NAFLD Most people with NAFLD have fatty liver which means that more than 5% of the liver is made up of fat cells. Excess weight  make genetic risk factors worse: A recent study published in Nature Genetics found that people with a high-risk variant of the PNPLA3 gene were much more likely to have fatty liver disease if they were obese than if they were thin.

N
Nonalcoholic steatohepatitis or NASH it’s an advanced form of NAFLD which is characterized by inflammation and cell injury.

Cells are dying and there’s progressive scarring, which can lead to cirrhosis and even liver cancer.

Scientists aren’t sure why some people with simple fatty liver go on to develop NASH while other don’t; research suggests that people with diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol and excess fat around their waist are all at higher risk.
